One Day In Ireland

It was a cold Irish evening in Limerick.Inside a small house,Noel Hogan his brother Mike ,Fergal Lawler along with some

of their friends were auditioning people trying to find a decent lead singer for their band "The Cranberries Saw Us".The

band's former lead singer Niall Quinn had just quit the band trying to go solo.

A young girl walked in through the door carrying a keyboard.The band had heard of her through Niall Quinn who had said

that they could give her a try before he had left the band.The girl who wasn't much older than 19 gave her name as Dolores.

She seemed a bit embrassed seeing so many people in the room.But she went ahead and began setting up her keyboard.

When she was ready she beagn to sing.The band members were completely astounded at her flawless voice.After hearing

a little more there was no doubt in their minds that she was the one.The band asked her if she could manage to write something.

A few days later Dolores came back with the song "Linger" and the band hailed her as their lead singer.

With the match began the band's journey to fame.Watercircle was the first tape released by Xeric records only in Ireland.Their

first commercial release was Nothing Left At All.Xeric records made 300 copies of it ,all of which sold out in local record sho-

-ps.Their first album was "Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can't We" released by Island records.It had hits like Dreams,Li-

-nger etc.

Till date The Cranberries had sold more than 20 million records worldwide.Their most recent release had been "Stars" which

was released in 2002.
